We have three bedrooms all en-suite with tea and coffee facilities. All rooms have beautiful bedding and Egyptian cotton towels.
There are great views of the mountains from all rooms.
We have very large terrace for you to enjoy your breakfast or if you prefer our dining area.

Blue Lake Retreat is situated at 1062m, at the starting point of many walks in the Lesponne valley. Lac Bleu 1928m Cabannes de la lit 1500m, Lac Peyrelade 1919m and Pic de Montaigu 2339m to name but a few.
Just a short drive away we have the fabulous Tourmalet and the Observatory at the Pic du Midi de Bigorre.

We offer independant walking holidays for all level of walkers, also if you just need a relaxing break we are set in the most perfect position for strolls and exploring the Pyrenees.

Low grade Walking Package for beginers.

This holiday suit people who wish to enjoy the hills and mountains, but without too much strenuous activity and at a slower pace. Expect three hours’ walking on several days, with a maximum of approximately five to six hours’ walking on any one day. The remaining time is spent relaxing or sightseeing – We recommend walking boots with good ankle support, and waterproof, breathable uppers for this holiday.

I am there on the walks with you giving you support and any advice you may need.

5 Nights including airport pick up from Tarbes or Pau Pyrenees, 4 Evening meals including wine, packed Lunches. Some of the walks start from outside our home, and transfer to all walks outside our valley.

Not included in the price is the one evening meal in which you can explore the town of Bagneres de Bigorre, However transfer to the restaurant is included in the price.

Low cost flights are always available if booked in advance with Easyjet & Ryanair flying to the Pyrenees. Pau and Toulouse are the nearest airports to us, Flights now from Bristol

Cirque of Gavarnie -

This crowning glory of the entire Pyrenees ranks as one of Europe’s most magnificent natural spectacles. It is an inspiring glacial amphitheatre rising 1400 metres from its base and stretching in a near perfect semi-circle for 890m in diameter.

This spectacular example of a cirque also boasts the magnificent Grande Cascade, a breathtaking deluge of water falling 400m to the base and the Brèche de Roland (Roland’s breach), an impressive natural gap measuring 40 metres across and 100 metres high.

The cirque was formed by a hollow in the slope becoming enlarged by freeze-thaw weathering and glacial erosion at the head of the glacier. As the hollow grew, the glacial erosion intensified and debris in the ice would have abraded the surface acting like sand paper as the ice moved down the slope. There are excellent views of the cirque and the waterfall from Gavarnie village itself and to walk to the cirque is about 2 hours from Gavarnie town. This is an easy walk well worth a visit.

For experienced walkers this is one of the major highlights of the HRP High Pyrenean Walking Route
